Tip Sheet for the week of June 18, 2007

RELEASED: June 18, 2007

Story/Photo Idea
Two sessions of UW-Eau Claire's Leadership Institute take place this week — one ending Tuesday and another running Wednesday through Friday. Additional sessions will run June 24-26 and 27-29. In all, more than 175 participants will attend this summer's institute. The program for incoming UW-Eau Claire freshmen has been offered each year since 1989. While earning a college credit, Leadership Institute participants learn skills to use in their academic and personal lives and beyond into their careers. They become familiar with the UW-Eau Claire campus, build a network of friends and learn the "Choose Confidence" curriculum, which teaches goal setting, time management, risk taking, interpersonal communication and assertiveness. Ropes course activities also help participants learn to place trust in others while discovering more about themselves. For more information, visit the Leadership Institute Web site and contact Justin Gardner, Leadership Institute coordinator, at 715-836-6040 or gardnejp@uwec.edu.
