Story Idea
A group of UW-Eau Claire special education majors and their faculty leader, Dr. Rose Battalio, returned recently from six weeks in Scotland through the university's Special Education in Scotland study-abroad program. The program allows undergraduate students to study and experience firsthand the Scottish special education system. The program consists of three weeks of classroom instruction, a two-week placement in a Scottish school and a five-day tour of the Scottish Highlands. Students Jessica Buhman and Amy Kimmes, both of whom have been active in Eau Claire area schools through UW-Eau Claire's Student Council for Exceptional Children, are available to discuss their experiences studying and teaching in Scotland. More than 100 middle school and high school students will be on the UW-Eau Claire campus beginning Monday, July 16, attending the 28th annual Science Institute and the first ever Clearwater Music Camps.

On Friday, July 20, the University Bookstore at UW-Eau Claire will hold a celebration on the eve of the release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," the seventh and final installment of the Harry Potter book series. Games, prizes, refreshments and photos with Harry Potter will be available at the event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who have reserved copies of the book will pick up their volumes beginning at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, July 21, outside Davies Center's east entrance.
