Singer-songwriter Andy Zipf to Give
Free Concerts at UW-Eau Claire

RELEASED: Jan. 22, 2007

Andy ZipfEAU CLAIRE — Andy Zipf, a singer-songwriter based in Washington, D.C., will return to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for three free concerts Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 1-3. His shows in The Cabin of Davies Center will begin at 8 p.m.

Zipf has shared the stage with a wide variety of performers, including Van Hunt, Mute Math, Evan Dando, The Ataris, Mary Lou Lord, the Wrens, the Ocean Blue and Peter Mulvey. He spends most of his time traveling from rock club to college to coffee shop, cultivating new fans from coast to coast.

Since his last Cabin appearance in March 2005, Zipf has raised $45,000 through fans, friends and private investors to create an album titled "The Long Tail," recorded in Los Angeles and set for release this year. The album was produced by industry veteran James Barber (Ryan Adams, Lisa Loeb, Courtney Love) and mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers, Chris Issak, Fleetwood Mac).

With two releases and over 200 dates under his belt in the last two years, Zipf has attracted the attention of the Today Show, XM Satellite Radio, VH1 and MTV by building a growing and sustainable model that relies on his stunning live performance and a close connection to his audience.

"Though he writes songs for the lonely, it is easy to see why he may not feel that way for much longer," wrote the Washington Times.

The shows are open to all ages. Soft drinks and domestic and imported beer are sold at all Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening programs. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.

The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate. A complete schedule of Cabin events is available online and at the Activities and Programs office, 715-836-4833.
