UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education
to Offer Drawing Fundamentals Course

RELEASED: Jan. 18, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education will offer "Drawing: The Fundamentals (and the Fun)" at 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, March 27-May 15, in Room 301 of the Haas Fine Arts Center on the UW-Eau Claire campus. The course fee is $129. Designed for adults interested in learning the basics or sharpening existing skills, the class will include the following:

  • Exploration of activities that develop hand/eye coordination
  • Experimentation with medium to create line, texture and shaded form
  • Practice in classic methods to "see" subjects through drawing
  • Discussion of technical aspects of drawing such as perspective, three-dimensionality, and foreshortening
  • Creation of timed gesture contour drawings
  • Completion of a frame-worthy finished piece

Course instructor Kim Yearman is a local artist, teacher and designer with more than twenty years of experience. She earned her bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University.
