Howard "Guitar" Luedtke |
EAU CLAIRE — Solo shows by Howard "Guitar" Luedtke Jan. 26-27 will open the spring semester schedule of performances in The Cabin at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
One of the best blues slide guitar players in the Midwest, Luedtke will take the stage at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Averaging more than 150 shows a year, solo and with his group Blue Max, Luedtke has traveled all over the region and Europe performing his tribute to the blues.
The Cabin is the venerable Davies Center coffeehouse that hosts free shows nearly every weekend and jazz concerts on many Wednesday nights. The spring schedule includes monthly open stage opportunities for campus and area talent; monthly open prose and poetry readings sponsored by NOTA (None of the Above), the campus literary magazine; and performances by students, faculty, staff, community members and nationally touring artists. All performances are produced and managed by student members of The Cabin Committee of the Student Senate's University Activities Commission.
Highlights of the semester follow:
All shows begin at 8 p.m. and are open to all ages. Soft drinks and beer are sold at Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening programs. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases. For a complete schedule, call the Activities and Programs office at 715-836-4833 or go to The Cabin Web site.
