Chippewa Valley Community Invited
to Commemorate Martin Luther King Jr.
at UW-Eau Claire

MLK posterEAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff invite members of the Chippewa Valley community to join them in commemorating the life of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on the holiday named in his honor. A brief sunset ceremony is planned for Monday, Jan. 15. The ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. at the Ecumenical Religious Center at 110 Garfield Ave. on the UW-Eau Claire campus.

The celebration of the philosophy and ideas of one of America's most important historical figures will include the Chippewa Valley Youth Choir singing "We Rise" and Delong Middle School students reading excerpts from King's well-known "I have a dream " speech. Projects by Delong students honoring King's vision will be on display.

This year's Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration is sponsored by University Lutheran Church and UW-Eau Claire's Office of Multicultural Affairs.

UW-Eau Claire offices will be closed on Jan. 15 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
