UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team
Places First at Red Hawk Invitational

RELEASED: Feb. 16, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team hosted the Wisconsin Lovefest Swing Tournament on the UW-Eau Claire campus Saturday, Feb. 10, and the team traveled to Ripon College for the Red Hawk Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 11.

UW-Eau Claire took first place in team sweepstakes at the Red Hawk Invitational.

Following are the individual results from the Red Hawk Invitational:

Senior Christine Zani, Hurley, placed first in informative speaking and second in after-dinner speaking, qualifying that event for the American Forensics Association National Tournament. Zani took third overall in individual sweepstakes.

Junior Hilary Rasmussen, Eau Claire, took first in program oral interpretation.

Sophomore Justin Rudnick, Stanley, placed second in program oral interpretation, qualifying that event for AFA. He also took seventh in prose interpretation.

Senior Amy Oldakowski, Sobieski, placed third in after-dinner speaking and fourth in persuasive speaking, qualifying that event for the National Forensics Association National Tournament.

Freshman Laura Magnusson, Apple Valley, Minn., took fifth in informative speaking.

Junior Eric Plantenberg, Monroe, placed third in duo interpretation with freshman Alex Collie, Menomonie. Plantenberg also took sixth in persuasive speaking.

Freshman Paul Gilleland, Fall Creek, placed fifth in dramatic interpretation.

Sophomore Julie Germain, New Richmond, took fifth in communication analysis.

Freshman Nick Miller, Stoughton, placed sixth in impromptu speaking.

Freshman Whitney Zahn, Menomonee Falls, placed sixth in after-dinner speaking, qualifying that event for NFA.

Freshman Jake Johnson, Mondovi, took sixth in communication analysis and sixth in extemporaneous speaking.
