Daniel Marino to Speak to
Spanish Business Association

RELEASED: Feb. 14, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Spanish Business Association will bring Daniel Marino to campus to speak about his experiences as a human resources manager at North American Trading in Strum and his business relationships with China and other countries. Marino will speak from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the Arrowhead Room of Davies Center.

"I think we can do great things together," said Marino, commenting on the growing Hispanic population in the United States and the importance of communicating in both Spanish and English. Marino, who has worked at North American Trading for 11 years, will share his insights on conducting business in today's growing Hispanic market.

Mr. Marino's presentation, to be conducted entirely in Spanish, is free and open to students, faculty and community members. Refreshments will be served.

UW-Eau Claire offers the option of a business/professions emphasis with its liberal arts Spanish major, but Dr. Juan Carlos Chaves, SBA adviser, hopes the presentation also will be of interest to many of the other students enrolled in Spanish classes at UW-Eau Claire, as well as those who have studied abroad in Spanish-speaking countries.

The Spanish Business Association meets monthly, inviting native speakers of Spanish from all professions to come and share their work experiences and how they came to hold their present positions. The main purpose of the association is to serve as a bridge between the university and the larger community.

For more information, contact Chaves at 715-836-4287 or chavesjc@uwec.edu, or SBA president Andrew Reigel at reigelaj@uwec.edu.
