RELEASED: Feb. 5, 2007
EAU CLAIRE — "Snatch" (U.K. 2000), a modish crime thriller set in the London underworld, will screen Feb. 15-18, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Written and directed by Guy Ritchie ("Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels"), the film will be presented at 6 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday in Davies Theatre.
When career criminal Frankie Four Fingers (Benicio Del Toro) takes a detour to London en route to delivering a huge stolen diamond to his boss (Dennis Farina) in New York, he unwittingly sets off a series of sinister and comic events. Ritchie's fast-paced and twisting story features an ensemble cast of larger-than-life characters that include Jason Statham as a unlicensed boxing promoter and Brad Pitt as a fast-talking gypsy bare-knuckle boxer.
Riddled with pop violence, the 102-minute film is rated R.
Admission is $2 for International Film Society members and UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff and $1 for UW-Eau Claire students. Tickets are available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727, in Davies Center's east lobby and will be sold at the door.
The film is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the Student Senate.
