EAU CLAIRE — The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony will offer its second concert of the 2007-08 season, "Enjoy a Symphonic Journey," at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The performance, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Under the direction of Eugene Power, this concert will feature music by Antonin Dvorak, including Slavonic Dances Op. 46, No.1, 2, and 4, and the second and fourth movements from Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, No. 95, also known as "From the New World."
A holiday reception will follow the concert.
The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony mission is to provide a unique opportunity for area youth to develop and showcase their artistry in the symphonic tradition while enhancing their lives and the cultural environment of the communities in which they live. The auditioned group is made up of more than sixty musicians from grades 7 through 12 in the Chippewa Valley.
