The conference, hosted this year by Chippewa Valley Technical College, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, with an evening networking reception from 5 to 7 p.m., and 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 25.

The Synergy Conference brings business, community government and education leaders in the Chippewa and St. Croix Valleys together to focus on issues and find practical solutions to the challenges that accompany economic growth in the region.

Keynote addresses and presenters include the following:

  • Edgar Papke, founder and chief executive of Living Change, Inc. and an executive and organizational development consultant, will explore how leaders, and their organizations can better work together to create greater synergy in support of common outcomes and goals.
  • Kim Dider and Linda M. Chape' will share how they helped move Newton, Iowa, from dependency on Maytag and its strong corporate citizenship to becoming a self-reliant, financially stable community.

Action sessions during the afternoon of Oct. 24 allow participants to frame the issues in affordable health care, economic development, education, quality of life and workforce development. Action plans based on these discussions will be created at the Synergy to Energy sessions on Oct. 25.
