UW-Eau Claire's CareerLink Offers Alumni
Enhanced Job Search Opportunities

RELEASED: Aug. 9, 2007

Alumni CareerLink logoEAU CLAIRE — A career service for alumni of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has been enhanced to provide more job opportunities and to be more user friendly.

Alumni CareerLink, offered free of charge by the university's Career Services, is an online searchable database that allows employers to list job openings and search profiles of available candidates. It also allows alumni seeking employment to search for positions and to list their own profiles for employers to view. Previously only alumni employers were able to list with the service. Now any employer is able to participate.

"This is a terrific tool for both employers and employees," said Jeanne Skoug, director of career services. "We want to encourage alumni seeking employment to sign up and to open up the number of employment opportunities by granting more employers access to the site."

"There is a large alumni base of possible employees to draw from," John Bachmeier, UW-Eau Claire director of alumni relations said.

"With over 70,000 UW-Eau Claire alums, over 52,000 living in Minnesota and Wisconsin, we know there are many educated, potential employees for employers. We just need job hunting alumni to be aware of this great opportunity and get listed."

To list either as an employer or a job candidate, people can go to the CareerLink Web site and follow the directions for posting information. The site will allow alumni seeking employment to list themselves anonymously to keep their job search confidential. Both employees and employers can search the database using key words, making a job or employee search quick and convenient.

"It's a win-win for anyone using the service," Skoug said. "Employers are assured of educated employees, and employees have an easy way to screen employment opportunities. Best of all it's free, so why not take advantage of it?"
