EAU CLAIRE — The annual Chippewa Valley Astronomy Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 3.p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Astronomy Day is for all ages and is free and open to the public. It will take place on the first floor of Phillips Science Hall on the UW-Eau Claire campus.
Activities include safe sunspot viewing, radio telescope demonstrations and making star wheels. Displays will include astrophotography, meteorites, and telescopes. Free planetarium shows will be presented on the hour and half-hour from noon until 2:30 p.m.
There is a $1 fee for the regularly scheduled 11a.m. children's planetarium show, which will feature "Larry, Cat in Space."
The Chippewa Valley Astronomical Society and the L.E. Phillips Planetarium sponsor Astronomy Day. For more information, contact the UW-Eau Claire physics and astronomy department at 715-836-3148.
