UW-Eau Claire's Jazz Ensemble III
to Perform Spring Concert April 26

RELEASED: April 24, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble III will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The ensemble, under the direction of Jeffery Crowell, assistant professor of music, will begin the concert with the music of Tom Garling in "And Another Thing . . .," followed by "White Pontiac" by Frank Mantooth, Horace Silver's "Filthy McNAsty," as arranged by John LaBarbera, and George Gershwin's "Bess You is My Woman" arranged by Roger Pemberton. Wrapping up the first half of the concert will be Quincy Jones' and Ernest Bailey's "Hard Sock Dance," arranged by Jones and Sammy Nestico.

The second half of the concert will start with "Why Bother?" by Matt Harris and continue with "Mueva Los Huesos" by Gordon Goodwin. Thelonius Monk's "'Round Midnight," arranged by Dizzy Gillespie, will follow. Jazz III will close with Michael Brecker's "Delta City Blues," arranged by Dave Eshelman.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $4 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and free for students with a university ID.
