McIntyre Library Celebrates
the Week of the Young Child

RELEASED: April 18, 2007

WOYC logoEAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's McIntyre Library celebrates The Week of the Young Child by inviting children for story time at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, in the Instructional Media Center located on the lower level of the library.

The WOYC, sponsored by the National Association of the Education of Young Children, is celebrated across the country April 22-28. Hundreds of local organizations work to improve opportunities and thank everyone involved in building better futures for all young children.

Kati Tvaruzka, assistant professor, library services, and education reference librarian at McIntyre Library, offers free 30-minute monthly story time sessions for children attending UW-Eau Claire Children's Center as well as children and grandchildren of students, faculty, and the general public. Her sessions are held the last Wednesday of every month in the IMC.

In addition, the sessions act as a way for UW-Eau Claire education majors to learn techniques for reading to and entertaining groups of young children.

"I love doing this in the middle of the IMC because the students working down there always wind up watching or joining in," said Tvaruzka. "Plus, it's great to lighten the atmosphere by bringing in a whole bunch of loud preschoolers!"

Tvaruzka also provides the same story time session the last Tuesday of every month at 11 a.m. at the Children's Museum of Eau Claire.

For more information about Tvaruzka's story time sessions at McIntyre Library or the Children's Museum of Eau Claire, contact her at tvaruzke@uwec.edu or 715-836-4522.
