UW-Eau Claire Students Join Community Members
to Celebrate Earth Day This Saturday at Phoenix Park

Earth Day Logo 2007EAU CLAIRE — Students from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will join with community members to hold an Eau Claire Community Earth Day Celebration, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday, April 21, at Phoenix Park. The Conservationists, Student National Environmental Health Association and the Foodlums will all have tables at this free event, which is expected to attract 1,000 people. Food vendors will be present throughout the day.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. exhibits on green living, speakers on various environmental issues, arts and craft activities for children, and music from local artists Walter Craft, Billy Krause, Bruce O'Brien and Magic Mama will be featured.

Naturalist, educator and humorist David Stokes will offer four 30-minute shows that use songs, stories, movement, riddles and hands-on materials including live animals and animal artifacts to actively engage children and adults in learning. The shows are scheduled for 11:15 a.m., Noon, 12:45 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Between 2 and 6 p.m., music will be featured at the labyrinth/special events area of Phoenix Park. Local band Quinn Elizabeth will perform acoustic, soul and folk rock from 2 to 4 p.m., and the jam band God Johnson will play funk and rock from 4 to 6 p.m.
