EAU CLAIRE — For the second consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's benefit performances of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" raised over $10,000 in proceeds, collecting a total of $10,646.61 this year. Of the proceeds, 75 percent will be donated to the Bolton Refuge House, 15 percent to the Center for Awareness of Sexual Assault and 10 percent to the National Vagina Monologues Charity.
Making Our School An Intercultural Community, a UW-Eau Claire Housing and Residence Life diversity task force, sponsored the student production. The production presented women's thoughts, feelings and experiences related to being a woman, with topics that ranged from coming of age to instances of sexual assault.
Sara Pertz, public relations manager of MOSIAC, said they were pleasantly surprised with the results. "Last year was a very successful year, and we never imagined we could meet, let alone surpass, last year's proceeds," Pertz said.
MOSAIC would like to thank everyone that attended or participated for their contribution to making the event a success.
