SOPHS Annual Telethon, April 26,
to Raise Money for Eau Claire Free Clinic

SOPHS logoEAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Society of Participating Honor Students will hold its annual telethon from 7 p.m. to midnight Thursday, April 26. The telethon, which will be broadcast live on TV-10 and in the TV Lounge of Towers Hall, will feature performances, contests and a chance to win prizes.

The telethon's performances will include local musical talent and a physics demonstration by UW-Eau Claire associate professor J. Erik Hendrickson. The telethon will include a raffle to raise money for the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic in downtown Eau Claire. The clinic offers free doctor visits, lab tests and medications to people who cannot otherwise afford health care.

Tickets for the raffle can be bought at Hilltop on April 18 and 19 from 4:30 p.m. to7:30 p.m. In addition, SOPHS will be selling tickets on April 17, 19 and 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Davies Center. Raffle tickets are $1 a piece or 6 tickets for $5. For additional information, contact Aaron Anderson at 715-855-3466.

SOPHS is an honor society dedicated to acknowledging and encouraging both outstanding scholastic achievement and significant service to UW-Eau Claire. The organization invites freshmen who have a GPA in the upper 35 percent of their class and who are active in campus and community activities to become SOPHS members. In addition to the annual telethon, SOPHS also does other service projects throughout the community.
