UW-Eau Claire's Women's Chorus
to Perform Spring Concert April 23

RELEASED: April 13, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's Chorus, under the direction of Daniel Newman, associate professor of music, will perform its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 23, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The concert is set to begin with three excerpts from J.S. Bach's "The Peasant Cantata," followed by "Es tnt ein voller Harfenklang" and "Lied von Shakespeare der Grtner" by Johannes Brahms. The second Brahms piece will also feature senior Charles Willcutt, Bloomington, Minn., and sophomore Michael Renneke, Eagan, Minn., on French horns. The chorus will then perform two pieces by James Mulholland, a recent guest artist at UW-Eau Claire: "I Will Walk with My Love," and "Heart We Will Forget Him," featuring senior Paul Saganski, Sun Prairie, on French horn. Two well known pieces by George Gershwin will follow: "Foggy Day" and the perennial favorite "Summertime" from "Porgy and Bess." The concert will conclude with Noble Cain's arrangement of "Everytime I Feel the Spirit," Michelle Weir's arrangement of "Rock-A-Bye Baby," and "All the Jazz" by Kander and Ebb, as arranged by piano accompanist Kevin Gisi, a sophomore from Fitchburg.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $4 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older and children 17 and younger; and free for faculty, staff and students with a university ID.
