UW-Eau Claire Students to Exhibit Research
at 15th Annual Student Research Day

RELEASED: April 11, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students will display their student and faculty collaborative research as well as independent student research at the 15th annual Student Research Day April 23-24.

Student research posters will be on display from noon to 5 p.m. Monday, April 23, and from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, April 24, in Zorn Arena. Judging will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.

The event, sponsored by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, will highlight student research accomplishments and the important role faculty and academic staff play as mentors in the scholarly activity process. The diverse nature of research being conducted on campus may be viewed through the great variety of poster exhibits included in this year's Student Research Day — 252 projects in all.

Dr. Karen Havholm, interim assistant vice chancellor, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, said she was happy to see more than a 25% increase in submissions of abstracts this year, prompting the move to Zorn Arena. Last year 196 projects were displayed in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center, but this year they needed a larger space to exhibit all the projects.

A seven-member faculty judging panel from Boston Architectural College, University of St. Thomas, University of Minnesota-Morris, Macalester College, Presbyterian College, Bradley University, Hope College, UW-River Falls and UW-Stout will select posters for special recognition in the categories of arts and humanities, behavioral and social sciences, business and professional studies, natural and physical sciences, and graduate entries.

The entire university community is encouraged to view this exhibit and meet with the student researchers, who will be available to discuss their posters from noon until 4 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The public is also invited to this free event.
