Sodexho at UW-Eau Claire Seeking Nominations
for Sodexho Stop Hunger Award

RELEASED: April 5, 2007

Sodexho posterEAU CLAIRE — The Blugold Dining contractor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has announced that it is seeking nominations for the newly established Sodexho Stop Hunger Award and Scholarship, created to recognize student leaders who are working to reduce hunger in their communities.

"The Sodexho Foundation has long been an advocate for seeking long-term solutions to the hunger epidemic facing our country," said Stephen Brady, president of the Sodexho Foundation. "It is essential that we identify and cultivate young people who show a civic-minded spirit, a passion for engaging in their community and a willingness to serve others. Today's students will be leading America tomorrow and instilling in them the importance of meeting the basic needs of others will yield long-term societal benefits."

A complete description of the award and a nomination form are available online. The nomination deadline is Monday, April 30.

Eligible candidates must be enrolled in an educational institution served by Sodexho in the United States and be able to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to hunger-relief activities in their community. A panel of judges appointed by the Sodexho Foundation will select the winners in May.

Each student selected will receive a $3,000 scholarship award and a $3,000 grant in their name for the hunger-related charity of their choice. Awards will be presented to the students in person Monday, June 11, at the Sodexho Foundation Dinner, a gala event in Washington, D.C., where the award recipients will be the honored guests.

Established in 1999, the Sodexho Foundation is an independent charitable organization that supports initiatives that focus on eliminating the root causes of hunger in the United States. Administrative costs are paid by Sodexho, Inc., to ensure that all money raised is directed to those in need. Since its inception the foundation has raised over $7.2 million.

The Blugold Dining program is administered by the University Centers.
