Concert Choir to Perform
Spring Concert April 15

RELEASED: April 4, 2007

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Concert Choir will perform its spring concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The Concert Choir, under the direction of Gary Schwartzhoff, professor of music, will begin the concert with Jan Pieterzoon Sweelinck's "Contate Domino" and Jacobus Gallus' "Alleluia, In Ressurectione tua, Christe." Nicolai Golovanov's "Otche Nash" and Morten Lauridsen's "Ave Maria" will follow. Selections from Bach's Mass in B Minor will close the first half of the concert.

The second half will feature Impromptu, a mixed voice a cappella group auditioned out of the Concert Choir. They will sing, "We've Only Just Begun" by The Carpenters, "Love and Mercy" by Brian Wilson and "Chili Con Carne" by The Real Group. The members of Impromptu are seniors Mark Lundin, Blaine, Minn., and Max Athorn, Minneapolis, Minn.; juniors Caitlin Nelson, Green Bay, and Allison Wells, Eau Claire; and sophomores Ben John, Hartland, and Amy Stanfield, Lake Geneva.

The rest of the choir will return to the stage to perform James Mulholland's "You, Rose of My Heart." Junior Meghan Quinn, Shoreview, Minn., and senior Holly Samson, Elk Mound, will accompany the choir. Additional selections include Eric Whitacre's "Sleep" and "Let Me Fly" an African-American folk song.

The choir will conclude their concert with S.A. Otieno's "Sigalagala - Let There Be Ululation," a Kenyan spiritual, accompanied by seniors Katie LeBrun, Eau Claire, and Mark Lundin, Blaine, Minn.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $5 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID.
