Singer Michael Andrew to Appear
in The Cabin at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE — Singer Michael Andrew an actor, songwriter and bandleader who will headline the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's upcoming Salute to the Big Band Era concerts also will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, in The Cabin of Davies Center.

A Wisconsin native and 1987 graduate of UW-Eau Claire, Andrew was bandleader and singer for The Rainbow Room Orchestra at Rockefeller Center in New York City. After playing there five to six nights a week for more than two years, he began performing all across the nation with his 18-piece big band and smaller ensembles. He has performed as a singer and bandleader in the movies "Heartbreakers" and "Stroke of Genius." He is also a frequent guest artist with symphony orchestras, and develops theatrical projects that showcase his comic characters and classic singing style.

Andrew will appear as special guest artist at "A Salute to the Big Bands and Tony Bennett," to be presented Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22-23. More information and tickets are available from the University Service Center, 715-836-3727.

The show in The Cabin is free and open to all. The program is sponsored by the UW-Eau Claire department of music and theatre arts' jazz studies area.
