for the Week of Sept. 11

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Sept. 11. All events are free and open to the public.

Wednesday, Sept. 13

  • Guest artist Trevor Stephenson, founder and artistic director of the Madison Bach Musicians, will present a harpsichord and fortepiano recital at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Stephenson, who has a doctor of musical arts degree in historical performance of 18th Century music from Cornell University, tours the United States as a lecturer and performer and has released eleven CD recordings. He will begin the concert with Prelude and Fugue in C major and Prelude and Fugue in F minor from J.S. Bach's "The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book II." The concert also will feature works by J.J. Froberger, Handel, Mozart, Haydn and Schubert, concluding with Beethoven's Sonata Quasi Una Fantasia in C-sharp minor.

Thursday, Sept. 14:

  • Guest Artist Trevor Stephenson will present a harpsichord and fortepiano master class from 10 a.m. until noon in Phillips Recital Hall. The public is welcome.
