Michael Noll Memorial Run/Walk Begins
National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week

RELEASED: Sept. 6, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will host the second annual Michael Noll Memorial Run/Walk at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23. The 5K course will begin and end at the Haas Fine Arts parking lot and include the Putnam trail.

In November 2002, when he was just 22 years old, UW-Eau Claire student Michael Noll died in an alcohol-related incident. A native of Rochester, Minn., Noll was studying biology and planned to become a teacher. The event is sponsored in part by Jeff and Carol Noll in memory of their son.

At the first annual event last year, more than 100 students, faculty, staff and community members gathered to help raise alcohol awareness and to celebrate Noll's life. This year the run/walk will be the kick-off event of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week at UW-Eau Claire, which will include a number of events to promote student responsibility and healthy, safe decisions about alcohol.

UW-Eau Claire Student Senate and the Center for Alcohol Studies and Education will coordinate the event. Registration forms for the run/walk are available at the Student Senate office (Davies Center 132) as well as the CASE office (Old Library 2104) or online. Forms should be returned to the CASE office. Registration on the day of the event will be held at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $10 per person.

For more information regarding the Michael Noll Memorial Run/Walk, contact the CASE office at 715-836-5110 or send e-mail to case@uwec.edu.
