EAU CLAIRE — Chicago-based indie pop duo Sanawon will present three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Sept. 21-23. Their shows will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in The Cabin of Davies Center.
Singer-songwriter Jenny Choi toured nationally as a solo artist before recruiting drummer Phillip Stone to create this brooding, keyboard-and-drums pop adventure. The music of Sanawon (pronounced sah-nah-wuhn, Korean for "fierce") has been compared to that of Denali, Death Cab for Cutie and Blonde Redhead. The duo's debut CD is "Tiny Airplane" (2005).
Cabin performances are free and open to all ages. Soda, domestic and imported beer, specialty coffee drinks and tea are sold at all Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening programs. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.
The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate. For more information visit the Cabin Web site or contact the Activities and Programs office, 715-836-4833.
