Small UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team Places
at Mid-American Forensics Tournament

RELEASED: Oct. 6, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — With only six students competing, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team placed second in both the first and second Mid-American Forensics Tournament in Illinois.

MAFL #1 was hosted by Illinois State University in Normal, Ill. on Saturday, Sept. 30. MAFL #2 was hosted by Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. on Sunday, Oct. 1.

Following are the individual results from Saturday's MAFL #1 tournament:

Senior Christine Zani, Hurley, placed first in communication analysis, second in persuasive speaking and sixth in extemporaneous speaking.

Junior Hilary Rasmussen, Eau Claire, took first in dramatic interpretation, third in poetry and fourth in prose interpretation.

Senior Amy Oldakowski, Sobieski, placed fourth in impromptu speaking and fifth in extemporaneous speaking.

Sophomore Julie Germain, New Richmond, took sixth in persuasive speaking.

Following are the individual results from Sunday's MAFL #2:

Zani placed first in persuasive speaking, second in communication analysis and fifth in extemporaneous speaking.

Oldakowski placed second in impromptu speaking and fourth in extemporaneous speaking.

Rasmussen took third in dramatic interpretation and fourth in prose interpretation.
