UW-Eau Claire to Offer Programs on Pain
Management and Wound Care for Health Care Professionals

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education will present two programs for health care professionals in December.

"Pain Management: A Nursing Priority" will be held Dec. 7. This program is for any nurse involved in pain management for adult and geriatric populations. Learn to accurately assess pain, chose appropriate treatment modalities, both medication and non-medication options that apply to the specific category of pain, and pain management for special populations.

"Cruise through Wound Care" will be held Dec. 8. This program is for nurses and nurse practitioners in acute and chronic care settings who wish to update or improve their skills healing wounds. Learn current theories on prevention, treatment strategies, dressing/topical products, support surfaces, nutrition and when to refer to appropriate advanced therapies.

The programs will be presented by Tara Beuscher, a clinical specialist in gerontology and adult nurse practitioner in the pain clinic at the Marshfield Clinic in Minocqua. The programs will run from 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m. at the Best Western Trail Lodge & Suites, 3340 Mondovi Rd, Eau Claire. Participants receive 7.8 nursing education contact hours or 0.6 CEUs for each program.

Tuition for each program is $145 per person for registrations received by Nov. 10, $159 per person for registrations received after Nov. 10, or $290 per person registering for both programs (registrations must be made at the same time). Tuition includes instruction, materials, lunch, refreshments and nursing education contact hours or CEUs.
