EAU CLAIRE — Bert Colianni was elected chairman of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Foundation board of directors at the board's fall annual meeting.

Colianni, a 1976 UW-Eau Claire graduate, is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Marquette Financial Companies headquartered in Minneapolis. He succeeds David Anderson, who had served as board chairman since October 2003. Anderson, a 1966 UW-Eau Claire graduate and vice chair of Ruder Ware, served an additional third year after John Kell, who would have succeeded him as the Foundation chairman, died suddenly Aug. 5, 2006.

"We are grateful to David Anderson for his outstanding leadership at a critical junction as the UW-Eau Claire Foundation grieved the loss of John Kell while continuing the important work of the ongoing comprehensive campaign, Fulfilling the Promise of Excellence," said Carole Halberg, UW-Eau Claire Foundation president. "Now as the campaign draws close to its $50 million goal and completion on Dec. 31, 2007, the Foundation continues in good hands with Bert Colianni. Bert's leadership acumen will help the UW-Eau Claire Foundation set forth a new strategic plan, with a keen eye to its role in celebrating the university's centennial in 2016."

Also elected as Foundation board officers were Dan Market, vice president; Jo Ellyn DeCesare, treasurer; and Dean Olson, secretary. Market is chief executive officer and president of Market & Johnson Inc., Eau Claire; DeCesare, a 1984 UW-Eau Claire graduate, is a retired CPA from McMahon, Schleifer & Wood, Eau Claire; and Olson is president and CEO of Charter Bank, Eau Claire.
