Story Idea
Efforts to nurture Wisconsin entrepreneurs and innovators will be discussed during a Nov. 29 presentation hosted by the Alumni Association. Pat Dillon, the northwest regional director of the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs' Network, will talk from noon-1 p.m. at Sweetwater's restaurant. Her talk is titled "The Wisconsin Entrepreneurs Network: A Force for Innovation in Our State." WEN helps entrepreneurs and innovators to research federal funding, raise capital and market technology.

Story Idea
A "Doing Business with China" workshop will run from 9 a.m.-noon Dec. 6 at the Plaza Hotel in Eau Claire. Small business owners will discuss cultural differences between the East and West. Local business people will discuss marketing to China's emerging middle class. The workshop is hosted by the UW-Eau Claire Small Business Development Center, Continuing Education and the Wisconsin Department of Commerce. SBDCs are members of the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs' Network, a coalition of 70 organizations that provide small businesses access to services. The Chamber Choir will present the "Ye Olde Madrigale Dinner" at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2 in the Council Fire Room, Davies Center. The dinner features a 15th-century-style banquet, show and music performed by the Chamber Choir, directed by Gary Schwartzhoff. Student musicians play a royal court celebrating a harvest and the holidays.

UW-Eau Claire's Peer Diversity Educators has designated Nov. 27-Dec. 1 as "Reach Out for Respect Week." Activities will include a "Privilege Walk" to help students think about privileges society gives/denies its members. The "walk" will begin at 8 p.m. Nov. 28, Sutherland; 7 p.m. Nov. 29, Oak Ridge; and 9 p.m. Nov. 29, Governors and Putnam. During the week, students will collect supplies, soccer equipment and money for a school in South Africa. Oak Ridge will host a spaghetti dinner from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 29 to raise funds for the school. Several university and community organizations will lead World AIDS Day events on campus. "Pandemic: Facing AIDS" will screen at 5 p.m. Nov. 29 in Room 103 in Hibbard Hall, and at 5 p.m. Nov. 30 in Room 100 of Hibbard Hall. Discussions will follow both screenings. "Christmas with Dave Rudolf," a comedy concert for families, will begin at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Tamarack Room, Davies Center.
Rudolf's theatrical production of songs, humor and audience participation entertains all ages. Rudolf is a singer, songwriter and children's book author who's entertained families for more than 20 years.
