for the Week of Nov. 20

RELEASED: Nov. 14, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Nov. 20. All events are free and open to the public.

Monday, Nov. 20:

  • Junior Kristin Wood, Black River Falls, will perform a piano recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall. Wood will begin the recital with Vincent Persichetti's Third Piano Sonata. The performance also will include Rachmaninoff's Elegie Opus 3, No1 and Bach's Prelude and Fugue in E minor. Wood will bring the concert to an end with "Suite de Danzas Criollas" by Alberto Ginastera.

Tuesday, Nov. 21:

  • Senior soprano Stephanie Holte, Sheboygan, will present a recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center, accompanied by senior Emily Weber, Marshfield. For her first selection, Georg Philipp Telemann's "Die Hoffnung fvon neuem an zu leben," Holte will be assisted on violin by senior Alison Bulger, Mendota Heights, Minn. Faure's "Aprs un Rve" and "Fleur Jete" will follow. Other featured composers will be Puccini, Rachmaninoff and Amy Marcy Cheney Beach. Mitra Sadeghpour, assistant professor of music, will join Holte in her final selection, "Sull' aria" by Mozart.
