UW-Eau Claire's Fall Short Play Festival
Begins This Week in Riverside Theatre

Eau Claire The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire department of music and theatre arts will present its Fall Short Play Festival in the Riverside Theatre at 4 and 8 p.m. Nov. 16 and 17 and Nov. 20 and 21.

The student-directed plays are presented in repertory and are often challenging to both the new director and the audience. Several plays are presented at each performance, with each play presented several times.

Group A: Performing Nov. 16 at 4 p.m. and Nov. 17 at 8 p.m.

  • "The Problem" by A.R. Gurney, directed by senior Aaron Loy, Rosemount, Minn., features junior Aaron Verber, Wausau; and freshman Dana Viau, Woodbury, Minn.
  • "Stuffings" by James Prideaux, directed by senior Jason Vogt, Verona, features freshman Tyler Morris, Stillwater, Minn.; sophomore Joshua Ingersoll, Eau Claire; and freshman Stacie Druga, Rochester, Minn.
  • "Rosemary with Ginger," by Edward Allan Baker, directed by senior Abbie Williams, Roberts, features freshman Charlene Lucht, Greenville; and freshman Laura Magnusson, Apple Valley, Minn.

Group B: Performing Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 17 at 4 p.m.

  • "A Need for Brussels Sprouts" by Murray Schisgal, directed by senior Carroll Rankin, Eau Claire, features junior Mary Lee Peterson, Barneveld; and senior Jason Vogt, Verona.
  • "The Siren Song of Stephen Jay Gould" by Benjamin Bettenbender, directed by senior Meghan Hopper, Waukesha, features freshman Christian Krueger, Rochester, Minn.; and sophomore Elizabeth Bernhardt, Waunakee.

Group C: Performing Nov 20 at 4 p.m. and Nov. 21 at 8 p.m.

  • "Squirrels" by David Mamet, directed by senior Michael Evano, Minneapolis, Minn., features senior Mark Saienga, Lakeville, Minn.; junior Shane Chandler, Colfax; and senior Melissa Briggs, Cottage Grove, Minn.
  • "The Late Mr. Scarface" by Mildred Hark and Noel McQueen, directed by senior Erin Wetzel, Stanley, features freshman Stephanie Doms, Chanhassen, Minn.; sophomore Clayton Keller, Oregon; and sophomore Leda Tangen, Plainview, Minn.

Group D: Performing Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 21 at 4 p.m.

  • "The Eye of the Beholder" by Kent Broadhurst, directed by senior C. Max Athorn, Minneapolis, Minn., features senior Tera Kaminski, Waupaca; junior Sarah Lanners, St. Paul Park, Minn.; and sophomore Kaysee Schmidt, Balsam Lake.
  • "The Sausage Eaters" by Stephen Starosta, directed by senior Lara Goetsch, Minneapolis, Minn., features sophomore Brittany Gusho, Milwaukee; freshman Tim Jacobs, Hampton, N.H.; junior Megan Mulholland, Richfield; freshman Aaron Steuck, Junction City; and freshman Maggie Russell, Stoddard.
