EAU CLAIRE — Alan Bates and Genevieve Bujold star in "King of Hearts" (France 1966), a cult classic that will conclude this year's film series at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire May 11-14. Philippe de Broca's anti-war parable will screen at 6 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday in Davies Theatre.
Bates stars as a Scottish soldier who arrives in a war-torn French town just as the First World War is ending. He realizes that the town is occupied only by the forgotten inmates of the local insane asylum after the community names him king.
In French subtitled in English, the 100-minute film is not rated.
Admission is $2 for International Film Society members and UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff and $1 for UW-Eau Claire students. Tickets are available at the Service Center, (715) 836-3727, in Davies Center's east lobby and will be sold at the door.
The film is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
