RELEASED: March 31, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Small Business Development Center and Office of Continuing Education will offer two QuickBooks hands-on workshops for small businesses beginning on Friday, May 5.

"QuickBooks Accounting Basics" is a two-morning workshop that runs from 8:30 a.m. until noon Friday, May 5, and Friday, May 12. Participants will learn software setup; basic accounting tasks; and how to use accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.

"Using QuickBooks Effectively" is an advanced class for those who have completed "QuickBooks Accounting Basics" or have experience with the software. It will be held from 8:30 a.m. until noon Friday, May 19, and will focus on special features, tips and optimizing practices.

Sessions are held in the Cargill Computer Lab, Schneider Hall, on the UW-Eau Claire campus and are taught by Jim Mattson, an accountant and computer consultant with Bauman Associates in Eau Claire. Mattson has more than 15 years of experience helping small businesses develop efficient and effective accounting systems.

Workshop prices, per person, are $149 for "QuickBooks Accounting Basics" (two morning sessions) and $79 for "Using QuickBooks Effectively."
