EAU CLAIRE — Julie Loyd will perform three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire April 6-8. Her shows will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in The Cabin of Davies Center.

Loyd has a knack for making folk music dynamic. "I'm tired of folk being seen as boring," she said. "Just because I'm playing an acoustic guitar doesn't mean I'm going to be singing about the mountains — and if I am, I'm singing loud."

A native of Charlottesville, Va., Loyd has shared the stage with such performers as Shawn Mullins, Alana Davis, Michelle Malone, Edie Carey and Chris Barron (of the Spin Doctors). After playing her first national tour in 2003, she returned to New York City to record her third studio album, a project that fuses confessional acoustic-rock with innovative pop production. Performer Magazine wrote that the effort has made Julie Loyd "an artist to look out for."

People of all ages are welcome to The Cabin performances. Soda, tea, coffee and coffee-related beverages, and domestic and imported beer will be sold. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.

The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate. For more information visit The Cabin Web site or contact the Activities and Programs office, (715) 836-4833.
