UW-Eau Claire Geologist Invites Public to Join Environmental Geology Tour of the Chippewa Valley

EAU CLAIRE — Dr. Kent Syverson of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire geology department will lead a coach bus trip through the Chippewa Valley, ending at the Chippewa Moraine Ice Age State Recreation Area in New Auburn, on Saturday, June 10th.

The trip is designed for hobby earth scientists, home school students and parents, and anyone interested in environmental geology. There will be stops along the way to observe evidence of oceans, mountains, and glaciers, as well as to observe landfill construction, power generation and how they relate to environmental politics.

Extensive hiking is not required, but comfortable shoes are recommended. The coach bus will depart from Phillips Parking Lot on the UW-Eau Claire Campus at 8:15 a.m. and return at 4:45 that afternoon. Participants should bring a sack lunch and beverage.
