Still Time to Register for Annual Senior Americans' Day at UW-Eau Claire

RELEASED: March 7, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — The 18th Annual Senior Americans' Day program will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, in Davies Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The theme this year is "Spring Training for the Mind, Body & Spirit."

The program features keynote speaker Camille Wade Maurice, internationally known speaker and humorist, who will share insights on being human and caring in her presentation "Alive to Life."

The event also will offer nearly 50 workshops on topics ranging from computers to healthcare to the wonders of wine; talks by Diane Kane of the Milwaukee Laughter Club and Jerry Poling, author of "Summer Up North," the Henry Aaron story; and music by the State Street Barbershop Quartet. The cost of the program is $25 per person and includes materials, continental breakfast and lunch.

An optional lunch and matinee performance of the musical comedy "Run for Your Wife!" will begin at noon Monday, March 20, at the Fanny Hill Dinner Theatre. The cost is $32 per person.

Senior American's Day is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension in cooperation with AARP Wisconsin; AgeAdvantAge, Inc.; Grace Lutheran Foundation, Inc.; St. Francis Apartments; Eau Claire County Department on Aging and Resource Center; Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups. The day is planned by community representatives committed to the interests of older adults.
