Student from Brookfield to Receive First Brian Stricklin Memorial Scholarship

RELEASED: June 16, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — Robert Hamill, Brookfield, who will enter the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire this fall, has been named to receive the first Brian Stricklin Memorial Scholarship. Hamill is the son of Bob and Peggy Hamill.

The new scholarship, designated for an outstanding student from Waukesha County planning to attend the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, was established with memorial and family gifts received by the UW-Eau Claire Foundation in memory of Brian Stricklin, a UW-Eau Claire alumnus and honor student, who died suddenly at his home in Waukesha in August 2004.

Stricklin was an honor student at Waukesha West High School and a business major who graduated with honors from UW-Eau Claire in May 2004. He was an avid gamer and was an active member and officer of the UW-Eau Claire Gamers Guild. Preference for the scholarship in his name is given to applicants who plan to major in business and/or have an interest in gaming, environmental protection or study abroad opportunities.
