RELEASED: Jan. 27, 2006

Umbrella Bed photoEAU CLAIRE — Popular Minneapolis ska band Umbrella Bed will headline the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's 11th annual Ska Fest concert on Saturday, Feb. 11. Doors will open at 7 p.m. in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.

Now into their second century and far too proud to collect their pensions, the members of Umbrella Bed continue to play shows around the globe. Part of European ska label Mad Butcher, Umbrella Bed has four full-length CDs, two videos, a hatful of Minnesota Music Awards nominations, music in two movies, and presence on more ska compilations than you can count on your fingers. Umbrella Bed boasts a nine-member lineup consisting of drums, a twin-guitar assault, singer, bass and a four-piece horn section they call the Horns of Mass Destruction.

A Winter Carnival tradition, the Ska Fest concert also will feature popular regional ska bands Hired Geeks, Something To Do, and Catch of the Day.

Tickets are $6 ($4 for UW-Eau Claire students) at the University Service Center in Davies Center's east lobby and also will be sold at the door. The show is open to all ages. Proof of age will be required for alcohol purchases.

Patrons also may charge tickets to MasterCard or Visa when they order by phone. Call (715) 836-3727 — or, outside the immediate Eau Claire area, call toll-free (800) 949-UWEC. A $3 handling fee will be added to all telephone charge orders.
