Musical Events For the Week of Jan. 30

RELEASED: Jan. 24, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Jan. 30. All events are free and open to the public.

Sunday, Feb. 5:

  • Richard Fletcher, professor of music, will present a clarinet recital at 2 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall. Several other faculty members will assist him: pianist Barbara Wimunc-Pearson, Kristine Fletcher on bassoon and Paula Smith on the harp. The program will begin with Clarinet Sonata, Op. 234, a composition by professor of music Michael Cunningham, followed by Paul Reade's "Suite from the Victorian Kitchen Garden for Clarinet and Harp." The second half of the program will feature the premiere of "Clouds," by Ivar Lunde Jr, professor emeritus of music; "Lulla for Clarinet, Bassoon and Piano," by Geoffrey Palmer, and "Verano Porteño for Clarinet, Bassoon and Piano" by Astor Piazzolla.
