Musical Events for the Week of March 6

RELEASED: Feb. 27, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, March 6. All events are free and open to the public.

Tuesday, March 7:

  • Senior Breta Borstad, Cameron, will present a flute recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. She will open her recital with Bach's Sonata in E Minor. Borstad also will perform Duo for Flute and Piano by Aaron Copland. The second half of the performance will feature César Franck's Sonata in A Minor. Penelope Cecchini, professor emerita of music, will accompany Borstad on piano.

Wednesday, March 8:

  • Sophomores Matthew Lichtenwald, Fond du Lac, and David Hurd, Fall Creek, will present a joint piano recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall. Lichtenwald will open with Debussy's Pour le Piano, followed by Hurd with a performance of Ballade in G minor by Chopin. Brahms' Rhapsodie and Rachmaninoff's "Two Moment Musicaux" also will be featured in the concert. After Lichtenwald presents Charles Griffes' Scherzo from Fantasy Pieces, Hurd will bring the concert to an end with Toccata by John La Montaine.
