Musical Events for the Week of Feb. 20

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Feb. 20. All events are free and open to the public.

Thursday, Feb. 23:

  • Senior Elizabeth Wilson, Plymouth, Minn., will present a clarinet recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. She will be assisted by senior soprano Nicole Peters, Maplewood, Minn., and Beverly Soll on piano. The program will begin with Carl Maria von Weber's Grand Duo Concertant followed by "Raga Music" by John Mayer. The second half of the concert will feature works by Franz Schubert and Philip Parker.

Sunday, Feb. 26:

  • Daniel Newman, associate professor of music, will perform a faculty voice recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall. The performance will open with a set of music by Stefano Donaudy including "Amorosi miei giorni" and "O bei nidi d' amore." The work of Michael Head, Seymour Barab, Debussy and Beethoven also will be featured. The concert will conclude with "When I'm Not Near the Girl I Love" by Burton Lane. Barbara Young, lecturer of music, will assist Newman on piano.
