'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' to Screen
at UW-Eau Claire Feb. 9-12

Eternal Sunshine posterEAU CLAIRE — "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (2004), a comical and poignant look at breakups, breakdowns and breakthroughs, will be presented at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Feb. 9-12. Written by Charlie Kaufman ("Adaptation," "Being John Malkovich"), the film will screen at 6 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday in Davies Theatre.

Joel Barish (Jim Carrey) is stunned to discover that his girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet) has had the memories of their tumultuous relationship erased. Out of desperation, he contacts the inventor of the experimental process (Tom Wilkinson) to have Clementine removed from his own memory. But as his memories of Clementine begin to fade, Joel suddenly realizes how much he still loves her. From deep within the recesses of his brain he attempts to escape the procedure.

Directed by Michel Gondry, the 108-minute film is rated R.

Admission is $2 for International Film Society members and UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff or $1 for UW-Eau Claire students. Tickets are available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, in Davies Center's east lobby and at the door. The film is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
