UW-Eau Claire Announces Special January Planetarium Programs

RELEASED: Dec. 28, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — The L.E. Phillips Planetarium at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is showing "More than Meets the Eye" at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Jan. 9 and "Mr. Genius Tours the Solar System" at 11 a.m. Saturdays beginning Jan. 6.

These shows are scheduled for the month of January only. A planetarium presenter also will discuss the night sky and help audience members learn to identify constellations.

"Mr. Genius Tours the Solar System" is a family favorite that features the astronomer "Claire Blugold" and the bumbling "Mr. Genius." The children's shows are for ages 4-12. "More than Meets the Eye," aimed at adults and older children ages 12 and up, discusses where various celestial objects are located in the night sky as well as what they look like through large telescopes.

The cost is $1 per person at the door and advanced tickets are not required.

The planetarium is closed through Jan 5.

The L.E. Phillips Planetarium is in Phillips Science Hall on the UW-Eau Claire campus. Free parking is available on weekends and evenings. More information, including information about shows for adults and groups, is available online or by calling 715-836-5034.
