UW-Eau Claire Continue Education's Entrepreneurial Training Program will host a graduation for 30 people from 6-9 p.m. Dec. 19 in the Eau Claire River Room of the RCU building in downtown Eau Claire. Community interest in the entrepreneurial program has grown so much that an extra session was added this fall. Graduates will share their business plans during the Dec. 19 event. Math majors will benefit from an endowed scholarship thanks to the generosity of an alumnus and retired Memorial High School math teacher and tennis coach. Stanley and Yvonne Hillestad made a $25,000 gift to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation to establish the Stanley and Yvonne Hillestad Scholarship, which will provide a $1,000 annual scholarship to an outstanding math major who's demonstrated great potential and financial need. Stanley Hillestad, a 1958 graduate, taught at Memorial for 28 years and was the tennis coach for many years. Yvonne attended UW-Eau Claire in the 1950s. The McIntyre Library will be open 24 hours a day the week of finals, Dec. 18-22. Several student organizations will provide free coffee to students who are studying in the library from 10 p.m.-6 a.m. Dec. 17-20. Kati Tvaruzka will lead a story time session for community children, kids who attend the Children's Center, and for the children of faculty, staff and students. The 30-minute session will begin at 10 a.m. Dec. 20 in the Instructional Media Center in McIntyre Library. The theme is "Jungle Jamboree." Photographers are welcome. UW-Eau Claire's fall 2006 semester will end Dec. 22. Administrative offices will be closed Dec. 25 in recognition of the Christmas holiday.
