Human Diversity Expo Featured
Dec. 7 in Council Fire Room

RELEASED: Dec. 5, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — Education and social work students at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will share results of their diversity research projects during the 17th Bi-Annual Human Diversity Expo on Thursday, Dec. 7.

The Expo, which will run from 4 to 5:15 p.m. in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center, will feature projects designed by 140 students currently enrolled in "Social Foundations of Human Relations" courses and the "Ethnic-sensitive Social Work Practice" course. The event has been held each semester since the fall of 1998.

The expo will feature inquiry projects, video documentaries and case studies on topics of cultural diversity. Examples of research topics to be displayed include the story of an ESL Head Start classroom; a realistic look at homelessness; a glimpse into deaf culture; understanding Islam; Hmong interaction on the playground; and many more.
