Three Classified Employees
Retire from UW-Eau Claire

RELEASED: Dec. 1, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — Three classified employees at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire have recently retired or have announced they will retire soon.

Fay Bobb, a university services program associate in the Center for International Education, retired in November 2006. She began working for the university in 1969 as a stenographer in the Student Personnel and Admissions Office. One of the positions that she supported in that office was the international student adviser. As international education developed and became a separate area, Bobb continued to provide office support at increasingly advanced levels. She has supported the center, its programs and staff for over 30 years. In 1994 she was selected for the Outstanding Classified Staff Member of the Year Award. She retired in November with 37 years of service to the university.

Joanne Karshbaum, an IS resources support tech senior in Institutional Planning, retired in August 2006. In 1981, she held various limited-term positions on campus, including one in Institutional Studies. Several months later, she was hired as a permanent program assistant in that office. In 1989-90, she served as the interim institutional planner while a recruitment effort was in progress for a permanent planner. During her 25 years at the university, Karshbaum provided statistical analysis and reporting of official university information for use in executive decision making.

Thomas Kazmierski, an engineering specialist in Facilities Planning and Management, will retire in January 2007. He started working for that office in a limited-term capacity in 2001 and was hired for a permanent position two years later. During his 6 years at the university he performed various engineering duties, including assisting in the development of the university's capital budget and managing the outsourced facility services program.
