UW-Eau Claire's Community Fitness Program
to Offer More Options for Participation

RELEASED: Aug. 31, 2006

exercise photoEAU CLAIRE — On Sept. 18, the department of kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will begin the ninth year of a popular Community Fitness Program that has gotten hundreds of people started on a regular exercise routine.

This semester, new time slots include 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, in addition to the traditional 6-8 a.m. time. Participants are not expected to stay the full two hours.

The goal is to help adults who are out of shape, overweight or unsure about how to start a program to feel the many benefits that regular exercise can bring. Those who have finished a cardio-pulmonary rehab program at an area hospital and couples are welcome. Under the supervision of kinesiology faculty, students-in-training will help participants set personal goals, provide evaluations as needed, set up individualized exercise prescriptions, and work along with participants as time permits. Meetings are in the Olson Addition of McPhee Center on the upper campus.

The program cost is $75. For more information or to register, contact Dr. Lance Dalleck, dallelc@uwec.edu or 715-836-3774, or Dr. Don Bredle, bredledl@uwec.edu or 715-836-3953.
