EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Symphonic Choir and University Symphony Orchestra will present a joint concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 7, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Nobuyoshi Yasuda, associate professor of music, will conduct the ensembles in Anton Bruckner's Mass No.3 in F minor. The work will feature soprano Mitra Sadeghpour, assistant professor of music, mezzo-soprano Kathryn Proctor Duax, professor of music, tenor Daniel Newman, associate professor of music, and baritone Robert Knight, professor of music and chairman of the department of music and theatre arts.
Bruckner composed his fifth of five settings of Mass No.3 in f minor during his final years in Linz. The work was completed in 1868 and premiered in Vienna in1872. The mass has six movements, opening with "Kyrie" and "Gloria." The work ends with "Benedictus" and "Agnus Dei."
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $5 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID.
