UW-Eau Claire's Jazz Ensemble III to Present Spring Concert April 25

RELEASED: April 19, 2006

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble III will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The ensemble, under the direction of Jeffery Crowell, assistant professor of music, will begin the concert with the music of Gerry Mulligan in a set titled "The Age of Steam." The pieces include "Grand Tour," "One to Ten in Ohio," "Over the Hill and Out of the Woods" and "K-4 Pacific."

The second half of the concert is scheduled to begin with Ray Noble's "Cherokee," as arranged by Frank Mantooth. "Soft as Velvet" by Sammy Nestico, John Oddo's "North Beach Breakdown" and Neal Hefti's "Cute" also will be featured in the concert. Jazz III will close with " Leicester 'Lester' Leaps In" by Bob Florence.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $4 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and free for students with a university ID.
